Hitag S to Unique (eg. EM4102) programming

NOTE: Before you think of programming your implanted tag, try it first with another one from the same type ! The author of this manual is NOT responsible for any damage or pain resulting of the use of the text and pictures below !

For programming the Hitag S to Unique (that means that the Hitag acts as an EM4102) you need a read/writer and a little bit of Software. In this case the TECTUS eval kit was used. It contains an usb read/writer and the Software-CD with the documentation for the reader's commands. That means that you can write your own programming scripts or Software applications to control the device. For didactic and documentation purposes, I used the Froschelectronics eval kit for Hitag too to show more detailed information stored on the Hitag S.

I have first read out the Hitag S 2048 I used, to show the default factory values. (Froschelectronics kit)

I startet the TECTUS software, to program the tag. As you can see I have chosen "HitagS" and "Write Hitag S to Unique" I entered the desired Unique-Nr. (thats a 40 bit HEX code, so you have to chose between 0-9 and A-F) (If you want to tell the tag being an ISO animal tag, you can program it to that standard)

Now I have read the tag as an unique and it responses with the correct Number I've written to it the step before. Now the tag can be authorized at an "Unique" e.g. EM4102 reader. It will work like any other "unique" tag.

For didactic and documentation purposes, I just have read the tag with the Froschelectronics kit again to see what changed.
